CONFERENCE ON COMBATING DRUG ADDICTION FOR STUDENTS AT OĞUZELİ VOCATIONAL SCHOOL

At a conference organized by the Private Security and Protection Program at Gaziantep University (GAÜN) Oğuzeli Vocational School as part of the Social Awareness Project (TDP), a session titled “Narkogençlik Education Module” was held on the topic of combating drug addiction.

At the event, officials from the Gaziantep Provincial Police Department, the Narcotics Crimes Division, and the Turkey Drug and Drug Addiction Monitoring Center (TUBİM) Office addressed the fight against drug and stimulant addiction, the fundamentals of addiction, and the harms it causes to our country and individuals.

Police Department officials who participated as speakers at the conference emphasized that, as part of the fight against drug and stimulant addiction, young people must protect themselves from substance abuse—first and foremost by safeguarding their own health.

Presentations were delivered as part of the “Youth Module” Educational Program, which was developed for young people with the support of the TUBİM Scientific Board to contribute to raising awareness about the fight against drugs. The presentations covered the importance of combating narcotics-related crimes, substance addiction, substance use and its effects, ways to protect oneself from addiction, the legal framework regarding drug-related crimes, substance abuse treatment centers, professional support centers, and the UYUMA mobile app.

Prof. Dr. Memet Şahin, Director of Oğuzeli MYO, thanked those who contributed to the organization and said, “We strive to be an educational institution where young people—the guarantee of our future—can be raised in an environment of love, respect, and tolerance, protected from such harmful habits,” he said.

The conference, organized by Zeki Sunar, an instructor in the Private Security and Protection Program of the Property Protection and Security Department at Oğuzeli Vocational School, along with students from the Private Security and Protection Program, drew significant interest from faculty members and students.
