The Correctional and Security Services Program aims to train professionals capable of meeting the basic needs—such as security, housing, health, and education—of detainees and inmates housed in correctional facilities and juvenile detention centers, and who can play an active role in their reintegration into society. Furthermore, a fundamental objective of the program is to provide the sector with a qualified, well-trained, and human rights-respecting workforce—one capable of overseeing the supervision and monitoring of convicts in probation offices and meeting the needs of the Ministry of Justice’s central and regional organizations.
To train high-quality, qualified professionals in the field of justice and correctional law who possess education, scientific knowledge, and technological competence in accordance with universal standards and are conscious of their social responsibility. To produce pioneering graduates who are passionate about their profession, capable of correctly applying legal rules, and whose quality of service makes them the first choice both nationally and internationally—thereby ensuring the correctional system is accountable, particularly within the context of human rights.
To be an innovative and pioneering educational program that provides education in the field of correctional law and security services in accordance with national and international standards, rapidly adapts to modern correctional systems and human rights-focused approaches, contributes to institutionalization in the justice sector, and produces graduates who are the most sought-after.
Committed to the rule of law and human rights principles, well-versed in correctional legislation, capable of thinking analytically and generating effective solutions in times of crisis, who have internalized professional ethical values, and who aim to reintegrate detainees and inmates into society through psychosocial approaches.
Students who successfully complete this program receive an associate’s degree and are awarded the “Associate’s Degree in Correctional and Security Services.”
Graduates of the program may be employed as correctional officers or correctional clerks in correctional institutions and probation offices under the Ministry of Justice.
Admission to this program is conducted through the centralized examination system administered by the Measurement, Selection, and Placement Center (ÖSYM) (TYT score type), in accordance with the regulations established by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
Admissions for students wishing to transfer from an equivalent program in Turkey or abroad are evaluated on a case-by-case basis prior to the start of the semester, taking into account each applicant’s qualifications and applicable legal regulations.
