An informational event about the Social Security Institution was organized as part of the Social Awareness Projects (TDP) for students in the Social Security Program of the Department of Property Protection and Security at Gaziantep University (GAÜN) Oğuzeli Vocational School.
The event, organized by the GAÜN Oğuzeli Vocational School and the Gaziantep Social Security Institution (SGK) Provincial Directorate, Dr. Bülent Demirağ, Assistant Professor at Oğuzeli Vocational School, delivered the opening remarks. Noting that the Social Security Program is a growing field in Turkey, he emphasized the importance of such practical events for reinforcing the knowledge taught in the program.
At the event, which featured SGK staff member Çiğdem Tümsek as a speaker, students gained important insights into social security issues and learned about current developments in the sector. The event provided a platform for students to share practical knowledge related to their professions and meet industry professionals. In this context, students were briefed on the operations and procedures of key Social Security Institution services, including public relations and counseling, short-term insurance branches, benefits allocation, insured registration and service consolidation, debt management, and workplace registration.
Project Coordinator Lecturer Merve Kaplan stated that through such events, Social Security Program students will continue to keep up with innovations in the sector and shape their careers. Project Coordinator Lecturer Ayca Özceylan noted that the knowledge students gain in their courses will be reinforced through practical application, thereby supporting their education.
GAÜN Oğuzeli Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Memet Şahin emphasized the importance of such events in supporting students’ education and contributing to their professional development, and expressed his gratitude to all those involved.
