Students from the Private Security and Protection Program and the Computer Technologies Program at Gaziantep University (GAÜN) Oğuzeli Vocational School organized educational games for children at Oğuzeli Piri Reis Middle School.
Organized as part of the Social Awareness Projects (TDP) course and coordinated by Lecturers Yasin Eroğlu and M. Çağrı Yıldız, the event provided students with an enjoyable experience as they played educational games.
Noting that children are no longer able to play outside as they used to due to factors such as technological advancements and increasing urbanization, Lecturer Yasin Eroğlu stated, “There is a rise in diseases caused by a sedentary lifestyle among the younger generations. Children aren’t leaving the house; they’re just spending their time in front of computers. Playing is very important for children’s physiological, sociological, and psychological development. Today, we wanted to raise awareness about this issue through our educational games,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Memet Şahin, Director of Oğuzeli Vocational School, noted that games are part of our culture and must be preserved and passed on to future generations, and thanked Piri Reis Middle School Principal Muhammed Karaman, Vice Principal Cebrail Şahin, and Physical Education Teacher Mevlüt Alın. Emphasizing that such events make significant contributions to children’s development, Prof. Dr. Şahin highlighted the importance of organizing similar events and increasing opportunities for children to play in natural environments.
