Students at the Oğuzeli Vocational School of Gaziantep University (GAÜN) organized an event to raise awareness and encourage greater caution regarding forest fires.
As part of the GAÜN Social Awareness Project (TDP), the event—organized by Dr. Celal Bal, Assistant Professor at the Oğuzeli Vocational School— Oğuzeli Vocational School students distributed various brochures to citizens in Oğuzeli recreational areas and Burç Forests picnic areas, urging them to be mindful of forest fires and emphasizing the need to protect our forests and environment.
While citizens expressed their satisfaction with the event held as part of the Social Awareness Projects, Dr. Celal Bal, who provided information about the initiative, stated, “Our people need to be more careful and take precautions regarding forest fires. As summer approaches, many forest fires occur in our country. Unfortunately, many of these fires happen because adequate precautions are not taken. We must protect our forests and our environment to preserve nature,” he said.
Noting that these events, held every year during the summer months, attract significant interest from the public, Prof. Dr. Memet Şahin, Director of the Oğuzeli Vocational School, said that they aimed to raise awareness on these issues by preparing brochures and posters beneficial to the community together with the students.
