
Gaziantep University (GAÜN) Second-year students from the Criminal Justice and Security Services Program in the Department of Law at Oğuzeli Vocational School participated in an educational program as part of a field trip organized under the coordination of Lecturer Dr. Ali Balkan, Lecturer Ali Altuntaş, and Lecturer Zeki Sunar.
During the field trip, which took place at the Kahramanmaraş Training Center under the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Centers of the Ministry of Justice, students received hands-on training in areas such as professional intervention methods in correctional facilities, the use of security systems and equipment, and cell searches and management. The training sessions were conducted by the center’s expert staff.
In the final segment of the program, Judge İlknur Görgel, President of the Kahramanmaraş Training Center, delivered an informational presentation to the students. The presentation addressed the duties, authorities, and responsibilities of correctional facility staff, as well as key considerations in the practice of the profession.
Commenting on the technical field trip, Technical Field Trip Coordinator Lecturer Dr. Ali Balkan emphasized the importance of hands-on training for the students’ professional development, stating, “Ensuring that our correctional studies students receive hands-on training is our top priority. I would like to thank our partner institution, the Kahramanmaraş Education Center, and its Director, İlknur Görgel, for their unwavering support in providing our students with hands-on training.”
Oğuzeli Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Tuba Direkci, noting that technical field trip activities play a significant role in preparing students for professional life, said, “While technical field trip activities make important contributions to preparing our students for the future, they are also a strong demonstration of our school’s vision for vocational education. I would like to thank all our academic staff for their efforts.”
