Gaziantep University (GAÜN) Oğuzeli Vocational School of Higher Education’s Department of Law organized an “Interview Simulation Competition” for second-year students in the Correctional and Security Services Program. Coordinated by Lecturer Dr. Ali Balkan, with the contributions and participation of Lecturer Ali Altunbaş and Lecturer Ayşe Bahar, the event took place in the Oğuzeli Vocational School Conference Hall.
The event was organized to help students in the Correctional and Security Services Program prepare for civil service and contract staff recruitment processes—particularly for correctional and security officer positions within the Ministry of Justice—that require interview exams. In this context, all stages of the interview process were planned as a realistic simulation.
During the simulation, all stages—including the candidates’ waiting period, being called into the room, greeting the interview panel and introducing themselves, selecting written questions prepared in advance and compliant with relevant regulations via a random draw, the posing of questions, recording and scoring their answers, and leaving the room after the interview was completed—were all carried out in a practical manner. Following the evaluation process, the interview panel announced the candidates’ scores.
Commenting on the event, Dr. Ali Balkan, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Law Department, stated, “With this simulation, which we organized for the first time, we aimed to help our students observe and experience the interview environment in a realistic manner, identify their weaknesses, and manage their nerves.”
Oğuzeli Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Tuba Direkçi added, “The interview simulation makes a significant contribution to preparing our students for the future while also serving as a strong demonstration of our school’s vision for vocational education. I would like to thank all our academic staff for their hard work.”
