Gaziantep University (GAÜN) held a “Graduate Career Meetings” event for students in the Logistics program at the Oğuzeli Vocational School.
The event was organized under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Sadettin Paksoy, Chair of the Department of Management and Organization, and Dr. Ayşe Nur Mercan, Lecturer and Head of the Logistics Program.
Metin Kaplan, a speaker at the event who graduated first in his class from the Oğuzeli Vocational School and is currently active in the logistics sector, shared his experiences in the logistics sector and offered advice on career planning with the students. Kaplan stated, “The most important lesson I’ve learned on the journey I embarked on as a student sitting in these very seats is that individuals who work with determination, strive to improve themselves, and never give up on their goals will certainly find success in this sector.”
Prof. Dr. Sadettin Paksoy, Chair of the Department of Management and Organization, noted that alumni-student meetings are one of the most critical and complementary elements of the educational process. Prof. Dr. Paksoy noted that when alumni directly share the experiences they’ve gained in the field with students, it has an extremely powerful impact on their professional development.
Dr. Ayşe Nur Mercan, Lecturer and Head of the Logistics Program, noted that the event creates an extremely valuable and powerful learning environment where academic knowledge merges with real-world experience. She added, “The fact that our alumni share their successes in the industry with our students is not merely a transfer of experience; but also serves as inspiring career guidance for our students,” she stated.
Prof. Dr. Tuba Direkci, Director of the GAÜN Oğuzeli Vocational School, described the event as a meaningful gathering that brought together the past, present, and future of the Logistics Program, emphasized that having graduates share the experiences they have gained in the logistics sector with students is not merely a transfer of experience; it is also an important guidance process that sheds light on the students’ career journeys.
