Gaziantep University (GAÜN) Oğuzeli Vocational School organized a seminar titled “Combating Addiction” in collaboration with the Gaziantep Yeşilay Counseling Center (YEDAM) as part of the “Gaziantep Independence Campaign Project.”
The program, featuring Clinical Psychologist Muhammet Adıyaman as the speaker, drew significant interest from participants. The event provided information on modern methods for combating addiction, risk factors, appropriate approaches for individuals with addiction, and the steps necessary to build a healthy, independent future.
Presentations during the program highlighted that addiction is a multifaceted health issue that deeply affects not only the individual but also the family and the entire community. Clinical Psychologist Adıyaman noted that early awareness is crucial in breaking the cycle of addiction, stating, “Establishing proper communication, understanding our youth, and initiating professional support processes without delay when necessary are the most critical aspects of this struggle.” Information was also provided regarding YEDAM’s role in this process and the support mechanisms it offers.
The event, which aimed to foster strong awareness regarding addiction and saw active participation from young people through their questions, was attended by the administration, academic and administrative staff, and a large number of students from Oğuzeli Vocational School.
In her closing remarks, Oğuzeli Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Tuba Direkçi emphasized that such events are crucial for students’ education and raising awareness.
