
Gaziantep University (GAÜN) hosted the “NarkoGençlik Education Module” conference titled “The Harms of Substance Abuse, Its Negative Effects on Youth, and Methods for Combating Addiction” at the Oğuzeli Vocational School.
The conference was organized in coordination with Lecturer Zeki Sunar and Lecturer Dr. Ercan Yücel from the Private Security and Protection Program, in collaboration with the Narcotics Crime Combat Department of the Gaziantep Provincial Police Directorate, as part of the Social Awareness Project (TDP).
Officials from the Gaziantep Provincial Police Department’s Narcotics Crime Unit and the Turkey Drug and Drug Addiction Monitoring Center (TUBİM) Office served as speakers at the conference.
Participants were informed about the definitions of narcotics and stimulants in the international literature, which substances fall into this category, what substance dependence is, and its negative effects on individuals and society. In addition, the session focused on measures young people can take to combat addiction and initiatives to raise awareness.
As part of the “Youth Module” presentations prepared with the contributions of the TUBİM Scientific Board, information was provided on the importance of combating narcotics-related crimes, substance use and its effects, ways to protect against addiction, legal processes in drug-related crimes, treatment centers, and professional support services. In addition, information on how to use the UYUMA mobile app was shared with the students.
