A MEANINGFUL ACT OF COMPASSION BY GAÜN STUDENTS: THE “GIVE BLOOD, GIVE LIFE” PROJECT

Students at Gaziantep University (GAÜN) Oğuzeli Vocational School (MYO) not only saved lives but also set an example of social responsibility through the “Give Blood, Give Life” project.

As part of the “Give Blood, Give Life” Social Awareness Project (TDP), coordinated by GAÜN Oğuzeli MYO Assistant Professor Dr. Derya Çevik Taşdemir and Lecturer Ayşe Çoban, an informational seminar was held with the participation of Turkish Red Crescent officials Oktay Gündüz and İsmet Küçük.

During the seminar, the vital importance of blood donation and the fact that stem cell donation offers hope for patients with difficult-to-treat diseases were emphasized. Following the informational presentation, students showed keen interest in the organized blood and stem cell donation campaign.

Dr. Derya Çevik Taşdemir, one of the project coordinators, noted that the seminar successfully completed the project’s awareness-raising phase, while Lecturer Ayşe Çoban expressed her satisfaction with the students’ enthusiastic response.

Prof. Dr. Memet Şahin, Director of GAÜN Oğuzeli Vocational School, emphasized that they prioritize equipping students not only with professional knowledge but also with a sense of social responsibility, stating, “The ‘Give Blood, Give Life’ project is a concrete and meaningful example of this approach. “I would like to thank all our academic staff, students, and Red Crescent officials who contributed to this valuable project. As the Oğuzeli Vocational School, we will continue to support similar projects that benefit society and encourage our students to participate in such activities,” he said.
